a long time, nor does lie stop to rest all day; God lias
made tlie day for us to work in, and tlie night for sleep,
when we may lie down and rest in peace. Wlien the day
is past, and it is time for yon to go to bed, kneel down
and pray to God, that He wonld take you into his care,
and keep you safe through the night; He will tlien guard
you from all liarm, and your rest and your sleep shall
be sweet.
Lesson 44.
The Lord's day must be well kept, and no work ouglit
to be done on that day; you must go to God's house to
hear his word, and at home read in some good book, and
pray to him, that He would teach you liow to be good;
tliat, wlien you die, you may go to bliss, and live witli
him in lieaven.
This World will one day be burnt up, and all that is
in it; then will God come to judge botli good and bad:
the good He will take to bliss, but the bad will be un-
happy for ever.
Lesson 45.
The word of God shews us the way to life; his word is
truth, and by it we learn what is good in his sight; and
how to gain a life of joy that has no end; then let it be
your ehief care to learn to read it well. Keep the works
of God in your mind; it is He who has made the world,
and all that is in it. 0! how great are his works, and
how kind He is to all, who dwell in the earth.
My dear child, let it be your whole care to learn now
you are young; it will not be so hard a task as you may
think; a good will is the chief thing: for they, who wish
and try to learn, will be sure to do so with great ease.
