and do you good. Go not far from me, 0 Lord! but
be with me, and lielp me, 0 my God!
No man can tell what a day may do. To-day we are
rich, the next we may be poor. To-day we are well, tlie
next we may be sieL To-day we are in life, the next
we may die. Let us love God, and be kind to all; and
God will love us, both when we live, and when we die.
I will sing a new song to thee, 0 God! I will sing
to the Lord as long as I live. I love thy law, for it is
just and good. I will draw nigh to God, and lie will
draw nigh to me. The Lord is nigh to all them, that
call on him. My help is in the name of the Lord; for
vain is the help of man.
Lesson 37.
See, Tom, here is a new book for you; but I hope you
will not make it look like an old one, so soon as you did
the last one that I gave you; for that was made all over
with dirt in a week. If you be a good boy, and get your
task well, I will take you for a long Avalk by and by;
and you may take your dog Rose Avith you, if you wish it.
That will do to-day. Go and ask the maid to put on
your coat, and to give you your hat, and then we will
go at once, or else it will be too late for us to get to
the top of tlie hill^ to see the sun go down.
Here, Rose, come with Tom and me. Are your feet
cold? for mine are. If you like, you may run with Rose.
What do you stop for? Aunt, here is a poor boy, who has
got no shoes. Well, we will take him home with us, and
see if we can find him a pair to keep his feet warm and dry.
